Last week I was up on top of Sage Ranch Rd Butte photographing the horizon and the clouds. The mountains were nowhere to be seen. I spotted a gray bird in the top of a juniper.  It was further out than the small lens could reach so I switched to the 55-300mm lens. Of course the bird flew away. No matter I noticed this patch of junipers all highlighted by the sun except one in the center.
I zoomed up to the higher magnification and isolated this Juniper tree. It was just a little bit different then the forest surrounding it. I call it A tree standing in the forest.
I admit I probably would not have seen this tree if the bird hadn’t moved on or if the mountains were not covered in the clouds.
