There is nothing like a good hike on the first day of the month and the first day of the year.
I didn’t have to go into work till noon and since I had the time I decided to go hiking on the first day of the new year. Of course Aurora loved it.
I chose to go up Sage Ranch rd Butte since I had a limited time and I knew that the view of the mountains was hiding in the fog. I could concentrate on the subjects in the fog, I swear I saw trees that I have never seen before and I know I walked past them most trips up there.
Soon I am at the top looking down on the valley . Usually I am looking at the mountain view and don’t see the little valley.
The moisture in the fog brightens up the moss on this old fence post.
Old snags along the rim become works of mother nature art.
And that mountain View? Gone. You can see the Fryrear Canyon trail continue on into the canyon on the valley floor.
Loved these old juniper trees. What harsh life they have seen on the south west side. Sun, drought, rain ,wind. hail, lightning, hail, and fire.
Sometimes two trees become a more interesting one
loved the frost on the bunch grass
But it is time to come down and I have spotted one of my marker trees.
It was a great hike. Hello 2018
